Dear members and friends,

Bismillah hir rahman nir rahim.
All praise be to Allah and Rasulallah SAW

Since February 2009,
ASECS has successfully organized
various events for the members and public at large.
In 2009, events like
meelath celebrations, mother’s day, visits to children’s home ,
trip to Pulau Besar and Malacca, Iftar and opening madrasah classes
has shown that through
ASECS
We can also make a contribution to the society
in our own way.

Aflaaq Stars main emphasis:
Education and Culture
There are many ways one can contribute to this.
We will identify and help
the lower income and disadvantage families.
This is a difficult task as
this group of people are not easy to identify,
and if identified they are reluctant to come
forward and participate.
They are somehow shy
and they have
their own reasons.
We need more dedicated volunteers for this task.
We want to help the children from this group
to have same start as the other citizens of Singapore.
Our society, Aflaaq Stars,
will play a bigger role
to identify & provide
help directly,
or will connect
them to CDCs
and
other
national agencies.
Once this is done
we can get them to participate
in the mainstream community activities
like RCs, community centre and IRCC activities.
With regards to this,
This year, 2010,
We have given educational bursaries
to about 23 students to from deserving families.
These students came from
Indian Muslim, Malay, and Hindu families.
This was possible due to generous contributions
from our advisor and donors.
We also participated in activities organized
by Queenstown IRCC and Queenstown CC.
Next Step:
Also in the next couple of months
We are going to identify
another twenty families
and assist them in purchasing computers,
and the funds will be coming from
our Society through our sponsors,
if they do not qualify from
other national agencies.

We will get more of our members and volunteers
to participate in activities organized
at grass root level and national level
so that they get involve in
the community at large.

As the government
is focusing more
on family cohesion,
we will work with
the national agencies
on the programs
organized by MCYS.
As stated by MCYS,
there is need
for more infant and child care,
and elderly care centres
in Singapore.
We will be exploring ways to set up
an infant, childcare and/or elderly care centre.
As our focus will be on family and children
we will have some niche programs
and we will capitalize on this.
We will tap the resources from the CLF
(Community’s Leaders Forum)
and run programs.
We will run fruitful programs
for the community at large
and
will be a VWO
that can be relied upon.

We hope
more
dedicated members
&
volunteers
will come forward
to assist us
in running
the programs
&
events.

Thank you!

Shaik Alaudeen
President
